Just 5 minutes from Le Bugue is the spectacular stalactite cave Gouffre de Proumeyssac, also known as the “Crystal Cathedral”. The cave is entered via a spiral tunnel, or alternatively in a glass basket that is lowered from above - an unforgettable experience. Inside, huge stalactites, underground watercourses and an impressive light and sound show are sure to impress.

This charming village is known worldwide as the “world capital of prehistory”. It is home to the National Museum of Prehistory and several important archaeological sites. The nearby caves of Font-de-Gaume and Les Combarelles display authentic Stone Age paintings - a real window into the past. Around 30 minutes south of Le Bugue lies the medieval gem of Sarlat-la-Canéda. The excellently preserved old town consists almost entirely of buildings from the 14th to 16th centuries. This imposing castle towers high above the Dordogne River and offers one of the best panoramic views in the region. Built in the 12th century, Château de Beynac is one of the best-preserved castles in France. Inside, you'll find fascinating information about the history of the Hundred Years' War. The medieval bastide town of Domme was founded in the 13th century on a high plateau above the Dordogne Valley. The well-preserved city walls and old city gates are impressive.
